new install - can not add "things" (articles, pages, upload)

Hello there,

I found out about this cms few weeks ago and tested it on a shared hosting account.

I had to use "ftp hack" to have it working because the file create and dir create would not have the actual user.

All seemed to work ok until something broken.

At the moment I can not create new "things" (article, pages) - the buttons do nothing, no error message is available.

Also the file manager does not work: using create folder or upload files gives nothing.

The weird part is that I can create content by duplicating the page / article.

It's version 2.8.0 still, I just noticed the new version is available. I used that music academy tpl file but deleted all the users (frontend and backend) and created only an admin backend user.

I tested with 2.8.1 typolight-check.php and some of the files get "Corrupted" but I guess that it's because of different md5 sums.

The install is not in the root dir of the shared account, I used a different folder and changed the paths accordingly.

Please advise on what I should check.

I think you can disregard this for the meantime.

I was confused by the button "paste" which actually does create a new item and activates the other buttons (e.g. edit, insert, rename)...

I was wondering what would I "paste" into the page/section I was working in since also I had the button "clear clipboard" active (btw what does the clipboard actually store?). Maybe this could be taking into account for the new versions.

I checked the userguide but I did not find any information regarding the interface so I did rely on the js "tooltip".

Regarding clipboard/pasting:

When you click to add/duplicate/move an element, you usually see one or two flashing clipboard icons depending on what you are doing. You click one of them to "paste" it in the location you want. So specifically if you are working with articles, you can create a new article and paste it in the location you want. I think the terminology is just tripping you up a bit since you are used to cut/paste/clipboard being an OS thing.

You can also click these buttons and move around the CMS. For example you can click to move a content element, then click back to articles, click on another article, and paste that content element -- it remembers your desired action across page refreshes. Clearing the clipboard will stop/cancel this behavior.

i have teh same problem, ne winstall, can only edit things, when i click new article nothing happens

When you click "new article", you don't see flashing clipboard icons to the very right of each article?

If not, see if any JavaScript errors are being generated.
