RSS feeds - url links

Postby monolithz » Sun Mar 07, 2010 3:46 pm

In an RSS feed, the news articles contain files/images in the body of the text which have the URL relative to the website domain.

i.e. "tl_files/images/newsimage1.jpg"

When looking at my RSS feeds in Google Reader, I can't see the images because it requires the URL to have the domain name in front of it

i.e. "www.mydomain.com/tl_files/images/newsimage1.jpg"

Is there a (simple) way to force RSS feeds to contain URLs with the domain explicity specified rather than the relative link?

thanks,
Matt

If you purely generating these feeds from the Typolight core I would guess its a bug. If you can reproduce it in the demo http://demo.typolight.org it should be submitted to Trac as such.
If theres an extension involved you might try asking in the Extensions forum.
I've never made a News RSS feed so I don't know the cause, but somewhere $this->Environment->base is not being prepended to the image link.

thanks for the reply - I have sorted out the problem - it's not a bug, I had not realised I had missed the / from the end of the base Url in the feed settings.

Also, compounding the problem, Google Reader caches the news feed, so when I had correctly configured typolight I had to force Google Reader to refresh the feed.
