Can I send pre-formatted HTML-newsletters?

Postby prijke » Wed Dec 09, 2009 5:22 pm

Of course you can.... with TYPOlight almost anything is possible ;-)

That being said, can anyone tell me how to do that?

I want to send html newsletters to our members with pictures, headers and so on.

Thank you for listening

First of all you have to make HTML template of your newsletter (this url can be helpful http://www.sendcube.com/features/free_templates.html). Next change your template name to YOURNAME.html and upload to /tl_files/tiny_templates folder. Next during create new newsletter, in TinyMCE editor choose your template by click icon (on left to omega sign).

Great tip thanks.

I am wanting to process php within a tiny_template but unfortunately everything gets converted by tinyMCE (eg: <? php becomes %3C?php) so it does not work.

Is there a way to prevent this conversion?
The reason is so I can have a template that draws images from tl_files/site_files/emails no matter the domain.

Code: Select all
<td style="background-color: #ffffff;"><img src="%3C?php echo $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']; ?&gt;/tl_files/site_files/emails/study-in-new-zealand.jpg" border="0" alt="" width="760" height="125" align="center" /> </td>

Maybe you should use an environment variable instead: http://www.typolight.org/insert-tags.ht ... -variables

I'm chasing rainbows.
Ben, insert tags don't work either (they're not processed as it isn't being added to a FE Template)
BUT after trying heaps of things I find all you have to do is ....
NOTHING!!!

tl_files/image.jpg is made absolute.
Sometimes its far more productive just to put your feet up :D

Now that you mention it, I remember seeing a ticket about the newsletters function to convertRelativeLinks: http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... ter%2Blink

Hopefully you didn't spend too much time before you figured this on out. :)
